Robert Mondavi Private Selection
Pinot Noir 2011
This is the third Robert Mondavi Private Selection wine that I have had the pleasure and opportunity to review. The trend in consistent quality for the price is a refreshing course to be on.
The Robert Mondavi Private Selection Pinot Noir 2011 is no doubt a bargain for a under $12 California Pinot Noir. This week is the 3rd annual #pinotsmackdown, via Twitter, on Thursday September 6th, so I thought it only fitting that I put this wine on display this week and let you, the readers, know of its bargain. It’s easily found at most wine retailers across the states for around $11 and it’s good fun to have as many of you as we can sipping on everyday California PN this Thursday to help promote California Pinot Noir via the #pinotsmackdown (wink! wink!)
The color and clarity on the Robert Mondavi PS PN is a light, cherry red, as classic as Pinot Noir’s should be. When you swirl in your glass your nose will be filled with an orchard of cherries, plums and a slight smokiness at the end. A pleasurable set of aromatics. Tasting brings bing cherries to your tongue with red plums and some of that woody, smokiness about mid-palate. The fruit is mild and flavorful with bold acidity. What we always want out of a Pinot Noir! It’s what makes the varietal so food friendly. The wine finishes moderately.
I’m giving this Robert Mondavi Private Selection Pinot Noir 2011 a THREE BOTTLE rating. It is a great “everyday” wine to pick up almost anywhere, anytime you need to get your “Pinot On”! I can’t say enough about the Robert Mondavi Private Selection Line…I’m obviously a fan for the money and I think you will be too! Remember that high price and 95+ ratings don’t need to drive your wine selection…Drink what YOU like and Love The Wine Your With!
Cheers!
