“L’AMOUR AMADOR”

Amador County California has been bringing on the wine scene for several years.
The popularity is growing due to the magnificent wines being found there. One winery that has been around for almost twenty years and has a reputation as one of the most respected wine producers in the Sierra Foothills, specializing in Zinfandel, is Renwood Winery. Zinfandels from Amador County are a fruit lover’s dream! The mineral driven soils and rocky terrain make for a unique terrior that really shows in the wines. Renwood Winery, located in Plymouth, CA, has an exceptional winemaker and has taken their wines to a higher level these past few years. Amazing wines for amazing prices.

The 2011 California Zinfandel from Renwood Winery is a spunky Zin for only $14.99. A dark cherry red with the fire, spunk and sophistication you’d expect a “red-head” to have! Big jammy berries and vanilla oakiness in the nose with slight spice and even some boysenberry at the tail end. Sipping it brings on big cherries, boysenberry and blackberry undertones. Really unique and wonderful. This Zinfandel definitely has a good amount of acidity up front with a black pepper on the tongue mid-way through your sip….then a moderate, smooth tannic structure at the end with a long finish. FABULOUS wine and earns a FOUR BOTTLE Rating as I would keep this around for a weekly sipper!

The 2010 Premier Old Vine Zinfandel Amador County from Renwood Winery will
literally knock your socks off! It is so delicious…so amazing, that you will buy a case after one tasting! Selling for $19.99.  A beautiful deep mahogany red with lighter reflections on the edges….gorgeous wine to look at in the glass. Smelling of raspberries, currants, blackberries and a little spicy wood with sweet notes of vanilla softly at the end of your swirl. Big, dark berries and currants are tasted up front then a spice hits your tongue; cherries
surface mid palate and black pepper lingers to the end. Velvety and smooth finish which is long and exceptionally good! I just can’t tell you how well done this wine is…you MUST buy and try for sure! A FIVE BOTTLE Rating without hesitation. I paired this Old Vine Amador beauty with a homemade Black Pepper / Blue Cheese burger and it was “D’Vine”! A real show stopper.

I guarantee one thing ~ you will not be steered wrong when it comes to Amador
County wines and I know for a fact that if you even remotely like red
wines…you will fall “L’Amour” with Renwood Winery and their Zinfandels. Amazing value for amazingly little money. A true everyday California wine! Look for Renwood Winery at your local retailers or contact them directly via their website: www.renwood.com.  Better yet, if you get the chance to visit them at the winery, I hear the remodel is beautiful and I’m looking forward to visiting there myself, soon. In the meantime….I have fallen in love all over again sipping on Amador County Zinfandel and Renwood Winery!

Cheers!
