“Italy in Sonoma”

Believe it or not, you don’t have to go to Italy to taste really great Italian style wines. I’m not talking about imports….but rather Italian varietals grown here in California wine country and a winemaker that knows how to create great wine with this amazing Italian varietal juice! Jacuzzi Family Vineyards in Sonoma, owned by Cline Cellars, is such a place. A place where you can escape to Italy with a beautiful bottle of Italian style wine, within the confines of your own home and for under $25.00! No trip to Italy can be such a value.

dvinewinetime Jacuzzi Family Vineyards Arneis 2011Jacuzzi Family Vineyards produces some wonderful summertime whites. Crisp, and dry with all the fruit flavors you desire. Summertime is about enjoying the weather, good friends, family time, great BBQ and chilled, refreshing wine!

The Jacuzzi Family Vineyards CA Arneis 2011 is a true Italian treat!  A beautiful bright golden yellow with scents of lemon, mandarin and flowers. dvinewinetime Herb and Citrus Roasted ChickenThe 2011 Arneis has a wonderful viscosity to it and is so amazingly balanced with the tart acidity level it has. Citrus notes of bright lemon and orange blossoms that “bloom” in your mouth with full flavor! Very long and lush finish and simply gorgeous to drink on a hot, summer day. I paired this wine with a simple, rustic dish of Herb & Citrus Oven Roasted Chicken, as this wine screams for food attention with its brightness and acidity. The pairing was a spot on success and the wine was devoured (with the chicken dish) all in one evening! Truly a terrific white wine and sells for $24.00 per bottle.

The Jacuzzi Family Vineyards Estate Pinot Grigio 2011 from the Sonoma Coast is unbelievably unique and so delightful! Golden yellow in the glass with hints of amber that make it appear darker than any other Pinot Grigio I’ve encountered. dvinewinetime Jacuzzi Family Vineyards Pinot Grigio SC 2011The nose is intoxicating with pear, apple and lemon cream pie. Remarkable. The palate on this Pinot Grigio is crisp, but very delicate at the same time. Flavors of white hibiscus flowers, green pear and lemongrass fill your senses with a moderate to full mouth feel. Simple and yet complicated. I really enjoyed this wine. Serving it chilled and sitting on the patio all evening …I nearly consumed the entire bottle! (nearly) Another terrific white and selling for only $17.00 per bottle!

Both the 2011 Arneis and the 2011 Pinot Grigio earn a FOUR BOTTLE Rating. They are unbelievable values and case worthy to cover your entire summer wine budget! I have always dreamed of going to Italy for vacation and one day, maybe I will…but until then, I can tell you that the California sunshine of Sonoma County and a bottle of chilled Jacuzzi Family Vineyards white wine will certainly do the trick! A taste of Italy in Sonoma?…You betcha’!
