A few highlighted wine reviews from the #LiveWineBlogging wine tasting rounds at the 2016 Wine Bloggers Conference held in Lodi, CA last weekend!
Hues of spun gold swirling in the glass with a nose of perfected aged Chardonnay…light baking spices, vanilla and green apple with a hint of creamy cheese. Even with 15 years age, the palate still bursts of balanced acidity and roundness. The complexity on this Chardonnay is intense, yet never failing your taste buds that it’s Chardonnay. Raw green apple and pear fruits still shining through a blanket of baked apple pie with light spice notes mid palate and an incredible, almost never ending finish of supple, luscious deliciousness. An amazing wine to have had the pleasure of tasting. 100% Chardonnay. 100% Lodi. FIVE BOTTLE RATING
Bright, lemon yellow color with citrus notes of orange and key lime on the nose. So crisp and refreshing. Full of crisp texture from the acidity. Hints of peach, lemon and wet rock mid palate and the finish is long with lingering minerality. This wine would pair amazingly with raw oysters. If you love white wines with bright acidity and lingering finish, then this Albariño is for you! FIVE BOTTLE RATING
Dark cherry red in the glass. A nose full of rustic, earthiness and light fruitiness. On the initial palate there is a terrific amount of juicy fruit. Dark cherries, purple plums and a bit of raisin. Smooth, integrated tannins and an incredible finish. Fantastic example of a primarily Italian grown varietal here in Lodi! FIVE BOTTLE RATING
Dark and dense in the glass. This wines gives off the classic nose of dusty herbs, leather baseball glove and a bit of cassis. The palate is full of rich dark fruits: blackberries, blueberries and currents with a nice, round mouthfeel. A hint of spice hits you mid palate and the tannins smooth out into a nice, lingering finish. Well balanced for a under $20 California Cab! FOUR BOTTLE RATING
